AWARDS

TOP OF SHOW $10 | ROSETTE
Top of Show is a cash award available to all non-livestock exhibits. Top of Show Award given for item judged to a standard per department in Youth and Adult.
JUDGE’S AWARD $5 | ROSETTE
Judge’s Award is cash award available to all non-livestock exhibits. Judge’s Award given at discretion of Judge for special recognition.

SPECIAL CONTESTS

HOMEMAKER OF THE YEAR – ROSETTE | DISPLAY | $100
CASH AWARD SPONSOR: Market Street Cafe, Bickleton
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • Awarded to exhibitor with variety of skills. Cannot be entered again by winner until three three years have elapsed.
  • Exhibitor must enter three exhibits in three of seven departments: Food Preservation, Baking, Sewing, Needlework, Flowers, Quilting, and Crops & Horticulture.
  • There must be three exhibits in each department, for a total of nine (9) entries in this special contest. Exhibitor may not enter three like items i.e. three jars of peaches or three knit potholders of same pattern.
  • Participant must not be a professional.
  • WINNER DECIDED BY POINTS. Open Class Point System: Blue 100-90; Red 89-80; White 79 and below. Points will also be awarded for Judge’s Choice and Top of Show ribbons with the same point value as for a Blue.
  • In the event of a tie, Red ribbons received are considered along with Blue ribbon points. If still tied, Superintendent will decide according to complexity and workmanship of the articles entered.
KING & QUEEN OF THE KITCHEN – ROSETTE | DISPLAY
PRINCE & PRINCESS OF THE KITCHEN (YOUTH CONTEST) – ROSETTE | DISPLAY
AWARD SPONSOR: Klickitat County Fair
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This special award given to exhibitor entering three items each in any of Baking and/or Food Preservation departments for.
  • Participant must not be a professional.
  • WINNER DECIDED BY POINTS. Open Class Point System: Blue 100-90; Red 89-80; White 79 and below. Points will also be awarded for Judge’s Choice and Top of Show ribbons with the same point value as for a Blue.
  • In the event of tie, Red ribbons are considered along with Blue ribbon points. If still tied, Superintendents decide according to complexity/workmanship of articles entered.
RE-USE IT CONTEST – ROSETTE | DISPLAY
AWARD SPONSOR: Klickitat County Fair
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This contest is designed for exhibitor who shows creativity in “reusing” an item or items for a useful or decorative purpose. This contest encourages waste reduction.
  • This contest open to 4-H, FFA and Open Class exhibitors.
  • All items must have been made during the last year and be constructed from materials previously used in and around the household.
  • Participant must not be a professional.
  • WINNER DECIDED BY POINTS. Open Class Point System: Blue 100-90; Red 89-80; White 79 and below. Points will also be awarded for Judge’s Choice and Top of Show ribbons with the same point value as for a Blue.
  • In the event of tie, Red ribbons are considered along with Blue ribbon points. If still tied, Superintendents decide according to complexity/workmanship of articles entered.
  • The first place winner will not be able to enter again until one year has passed.

DEPARTMENT AWARDS

MEN ONLY CAKE BAKING CONTEST – ROSETTE | $25
AWARD SPONSOR: Bake My Day Bakery, Goldendale
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • Entry is restricted to men only in the Baking Department.
  • Cake entry must be baked in a domestic kitchen by entrant with no female assistance.
  • Cake entry must be made from scratch and frosted, no mixes or bought confections allowed.
  • A 3x5 recipe card must be included with entry with the Division, Class and description on the back. Entry will not be judged without recipe card.
  • Prize awarded based on originality, presentation and taste.
WHEATIES AWARD – ROSETTE | COOKBOOK
AWARD SPONSOR: Washington Association of Wheat Growers
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This award is to promote the use of wheat products in the Baking Department(s).
  • Award is for yeast baking exhibits entered in Open Baking and 4-H Baking Departments.
  • First place: rosette & cookbook; Second Place: cookbook
BEST OF KLICKITAT COUNTY BAKING CONTEST – ROSETTE | FLOUR
AWARD SPONSOR: Goldendale Market Fresh
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • Each year a baked item is chosen for this competition.
  • 2025 BAKED ITEM SELECTION: BAR COOKIE
  • All contestants will use their own recipe for the selection given for that year.
  • All rules for the Baking Department will apply. No cream cheese or dairy toppings.
  • Adult Award: rosette, 10lb flour.
  • Youth Award: rosette, 5lb flour.
BAKING EXCELLENCE CONTEST – $25 GIFT CERTIFICATE
AWARD SPONSOR: S&S Auto Supply, Goldendale
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Baking Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This contest is to promote high point exhibitors in Adult and Youth divisions of the Baking Department.
  • WINNER DECIDED BY POINTS accumulated in Blue and Red ribbons awarded. Open Class Point System: Blue 100-90; Red 89-80; White 79 and below. Points will also be awarded for Judge’s Choice and Top of Show ribbons with the same point value as for a Blue.
  • Adult Award: $25 gift certificate

MARKET FRESH FOOD PRESERVATION AWARD – 10LB SUGAR
AWARD SPONSOR: Goldendale Market Fresh
  • This contest is to promote exceptional preserved food exhibits in Adult and/or Youth divisions of the Food Preservation Department.
  • This is award is given to the top entry in Food Preservation that has not been otherwise given a special award.
  • Award: 10lb sugar
MARKET FRESH DRIED FRUIT AWARD – FRUIT FRESH FRUIT SAVER
AWARD SPONSOR: Goldendale Market Fresh
  • This contest is to promote exceptional dried fruit exhibits in Adult and/or Youth divisions of the Food Preservation Department.
  • This is award is given to the top entry in dried fruit.
  • Award: Fruit Fresh Fruit Saver
GARDEN AWARDS – $20 GIFT CERTIFICATES
AWARD SPONSOR: Margaret Throop, Glenwood
  • This contest is to promote high point exhibitors in Adult and Youth divisions of the Crops & Horticulture Department.
  • WINNER DECIDED BY POINTS accumulated in Blue and Red ribbons awarded. Open Class Point System: Blue 100-90; Red 89-80; White 79 and below. Points will also be awarded for Judge’s Choice and Top of Show ribbons with the same point value as for a Blue.
  • Adult Award: $20 Gift Certificate
  • Youth Award: $20 Gift Certificate
WOOL AWARDS – ROSETTE | $15
AWARD SPONSOR: Klickitat County Wool Growers Auxiliary
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This contest is to promote and encourage the use of wool in Adult and Youth divisions of these Departments: Sewing, Quilts, Needlework, Fiber Arts or Hobbies & Crafts.
  • Exhibits must contain a minimum of 60% wool materials.
  • The item awarded is chosen by the sponsor
  • Adult Award: Rosette, $15
  • Youth Award: Rosette, $15
COLUMBIA FIBER GUILD AWARDS – $10 GIFT CERTIFICATES
AWARD SPONSOR: Columbia Fibres Guild
  • Exhibitor will enter exhibit in Department, Division and Class as a regular entry. Exhibitor must indicate on entry tag at entry time and notify department superintendent of their entry in this contest. Items cannot be entered into other special contests.
  • This contest is to promote and encourage the use of wool in Adult and Youth divisions of the Fiber Arts Department.
  • Exhibits must contain a minimum of 65% natural fiber materials.

  • Best Overall Crochet, Felted, Handspun or Hand Knit Item: $10 gift certificate

BOWMAN CREEK FIBER ARTS AWARD – $20
